Welcome to the Toddler Classroom!
12months - 24months
From the infant room, our babies turn into adventurous toddlers! No longer do our babies sleep in cribs, but to prepare for the next room we sleep on cots. What a huge milestone this is! In addition, our toddlers use sippy cups as well as self-feed, fostering a development of self-help skills.
Our toddlers start to follow the same daily schedule with predicable snack, lunch and nap times. Our days also include a developmentally appropriate Circle Time with the addition of Zoophonics! Toddlers enjoy music and movement, center play, as well as art and of course outdoor play. We have our own playground outside our classroom with grassy area, sandbox, with plenty of shade. We go out twice a day, fall, winter, and spring either to play or to enjoy a nice, relaxing walk.
Playtime becomes utmost importance, as play is the “Work of Children”. Open ended play helps toddlers develop understanding of the world around them while helping social skills evolve and grow. Children learn self-control in our distractible world which has been shown to learn to succeed in later years.
We would love for you to pop on in and check us out hard at work in play! We enjoy our days at school and love to end the day messy with a smile!
